Presence Day – Overwhelmed by Beauty
October 13 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm$39
This is a day to soak in artistic beauty at the Getty Museum–the grounds, the art, the views. Your soul will take a deep breath as you surround yourself with masterpieces. We will meet briefly at the beginning for introductory formational thoughts. I will offer you some journal prompts for various areas of the museum. Finally, we’ll gather at the end to share with one another in small groups. Prepare to be encouraged as you experience the overflow of women who have spent hours with God in beauty.
Date: Saturday, October 13, 2018
Location: The Getty Museum, 1200 Getty Center Dr., Los Angeles, CA 90049
Bring: Sack lunch, water bottle, bible, journal. (You may also choose to purchase your lunch at the museum, if you’d like).
Cost: $39 (Admission to the museum is free, however, it is $15 for parking, which you can split if you are carpooling)
WHAT TO EXPECT
It’s easy to feel beaten down by the busy culture in which we live. Often we are encouraged to get some “me” time to replenish. “Me” time can be helpful. But a Presence Day is much more than that. It’s an “Us” time.
A Presence Day involves solitude and silence in the context of relationship with God (the first “us”). It also involves safe, caring conversation with women who, like you, take your relationship with God and your own growth seriously (the second “us”).
The flow of a Presence day retreat includes scripture reflection, instruction and direction from Gem Fadling, an extended time with God in solitude, silence and prayer, and sharing in spiritual community.
Over time, this type of retreat can help you to create a deep reservoir inside your own heart, from which you can draw on in your every day life.
The Presence Day retreat felt intimate, safe and freeing. I’ve led spiritual retreats but allowing myself to be led in one was a breath of fresh air. Gem was a great guide for the day and the encouragement that was shared amongst us all was uplifting. I walked away feeling revived, and a renewed perspective of life. I look forward to attending again! (Brenda R.)
I had the wonderful experience of attending a Presence Day and feel richly blessed by my involvement. The day was a deep and interesting exploration into my relationship with others, myself, but most importantly with my God. May you be equally blessed. (Betsy W.)
