Presence Day – As Yourself
April 28 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm$39
We are getting creative for this year’s Presence Days. In this retreat, we will explore the idea of finding and expressing our God-given voice. God has made you uniquely you. Many women have a hard time believing in who they are–who God made them. We’ll engage creatively to help us unwrap the gift of being ourselves.
Caring well for yourself has everything to do with time with God. Loving ourselves as God made us is central to the Great Commandment: “Love the Lord your God with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength. And love your neighbor AS YOURSELF.” We will have fun together exploring AS YOURSELF together.
Date: Saturday, April 28, 2018
Location: Lake Forest, CA (Home address given after registration)
Bring: Sack lunch, water bottle, bible, journal, beach chair, hat, sunscreen.
WHAT TO EXPECT
It’s easy to feel beaten down by the busy culture in which we live. Often we are encouraged to get some “me” time to replenish. “Me” time can be helpful. But a Presence Day is much more than that. It’s an “Us” time.
A Presence Day involves solitude and silence in the context of relationship with God (the first “us”). It also involves safe, caring conversation with women who, like you, take your relationship with God and your own growth seriously (the second “us”).
The flow of a Presence day retreat includes scripture reflection, instruction and direction from Gem Fadling, an extended time with God in solitude, silence and prayer, and sharing in spiritual community.
Over time, this type of retreat can help you to create a deep reservoir inside your own heart, from which you can draw on in your every day life.
The thing about Gem is that she is what she teaches. Present, attentive, an amazing listener. She doesn’t talk at us, but speaks as a fellow traveler with us and she has the kind of wisdom and humility of one familiar with rocky paths. I love her kindness, her genuine heart and authentic passion for women who find much of what they formerly believed and lived no longer working anymore. Perhaps most of all, I love how deeply she sees and loves every single woman in the room, and is so naturally intentional about affirming each and every one. (Linda P.)
Gem is a warm, welcoming spiritual teacher and leader. She treasures openness and makes it easy for everyone to feel comfortable and at home. It was exactly the kind of retreat I needed, with just the right amount of group participation time and individual reflection time. (Laura S.)
